Hosta 'Admiral Halsey'

This plant is a sport of H. 'Francee' and it was originated by Chick Wasitis of Bridgewood Gardens in Maryland and registered on his behalf by Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) in 2009. This large size hosta grows to about 19 inches in height by 42 inches in width. Its leaves are slightly rippled, slightly wavy and slightly corrugated. Medium violet flowers bloom in Maryland from June into July.

Admiral Halsey was a famous officer in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific. His nickname was "Bull" Halsey.

The name of the Beatles' song is actually, "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" and both names have been used for hosta cultivars.
