Hosta 'American Idol'

Another of the many sports of H. 'Sum and Substance', this cultivar was registered by Randy Goodwin of Indiana in 2005. It has medium green foliage with gold marginal variegation which becomes darker as the season progresses. The plant grows into a large size about 18 inches in height with a spread of 36 inches. In late July and into August, it produces large pale lavender flowers.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...matures as a much smaller mound than other green-centered sports of 'Sum and Substance'."
