When it was first discovered in Japan, this plant was thought to be a form of the species. However, The Genus Hostaby W. George Schmid (1991), later determined that it is actually a cultivar. It is a large size plant with green foliage and it bears very pale lavender flowers on scapes up to 36 inches tall.
