H. plantaginea
'Athena'
 

This cultivar is a tissue culture sport of H. plantaginea 'Aphrodite' registered by Bob Hird in 2005. It is a medium size plant with white, fragrant, double flowers borne in August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...offers the outstanding combination of beautifully streaked foliage and fragrant, double, white flowers."

In Greek mythology, Athena was the god of wisdom, warfare, heroism and reason.
