Hosta 'Baiyu'

Registered by Donghuan Liu of Beijing, China in 2016, this cultivar is a seedling of H. 'August Beauty'. It is an upright, fast growing, giant size hosta which grows to around 29 inches high by 59 inches wide. The leaves are medium green in color, dull on top, relatively flat and broadly ovate. Near white flowers with translucent edges bloom from June into July on scapes up to 59 inches tall.

The registration materials state: "Tall, straight and erect scapes, long (30-40cm) racemes and numerous near-white flowers that whirl around the scape. A good cutting cultivar."

We found one reference to a Chinese author, "...Lyrical Essays by Liu Baiyu..." but we do not know for sure that it is the origin of this hosta's name.
