Hosta 'Band of Gold'

A cross of H. 'Dorothy Benedict' × H. hypoleuca, this cultivar was registered by Dr. Ed Elslager of Michigan in 1999. The foliage is slightly rippled, lightly cupped and heart shaped. It forms a large size (21 inches high by 26 inches wide) mound with near white flowers in July to early August.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Moderate growth rate...The wider ivory-white margin is in striking contrast to the spinach green base color which the feathering enhances. The raceme is very attractive and enhanced by the pale anthers."

Similar cultivars include H. 'A Many-splendored Thing', H. 'Formal Attire' and H. 'Robert Frost'.
