Hosta 'Barger Blue'

Registered by Bill & Anna Barger of Ontario, Canada in 2016 and re-registered with new data in 2018. This upright growing cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Sum and Substance' which becomes a giant size hosta about 30 inches high by 60 inches wide with intensely blue-green foliage.

The nearly round leaves are slightly shiny on top, folded, slightly corrugated and convexly cupped. Pale lavender flowers bloom from mid-July into August on scapes about 32 inches tall followed by green seed pods.

The registration materials state: "Heavy, thick, blue-green leaves with a dense vase-shaped form...turns dark green in July"
