Hosta 'Black Queen'

This cultivar is a non-registered seedling selection from the garden of Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan. It grows into a medium size plant about 18 inches in height with a spread of around 43 inches. The foliage is dark green, shiny and have a thick bloom on the bottom. Pale purple flowers bloom in August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...shows an affinity to H. hypoleuca, being close to it in both foliage and flower."
