Hosta 'Blue Jewel'

This medium size (12 inches high by 36 inches wide), intensely blue-green cultivar is one of many non-registered, Tardiana-type hosta. It was originated by Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan and registered on his behalf by Rod Kuenster of Iowa in 2010. The leaves are broadly ovate, moderately wavy and glaucous on top with pointed tips. Lavender flowers with dark lavender stripes bloom from mid-July into August. It is noted for its intense color and thick substance.
