Hosta 'Brass Horn'

A sport of H. 'Fortunei Stenantha', this cultivar was registered by Dr. Charles Purtymun and Jay Hyslop of Walden West Nursery of Oregon in 1999. It forms a large size mound of foliage with a yellow marginal variegation which may change to greenish (like the one shown above) later in the summer. The leaves are slightly corrugated and broadly wavy. Its pale lavender flowers bloom in mid-July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...known for many years in the nursery trade as H. fortunei stenantha aureo-marginata, then 'Fortunei Stenantha Aureomarginata'...has been labeled as 'Mackwoods No. 23' and 'Fool's Gold'...makes an impressive mound of broadly wavy, variegated foliage. The margins are bright in the spring and fading by early summer."

This plant may have been sold in the past as Mackwoods No. 23.
