Hosta 'Bukou Nishiki Iwa'

This non-registered form of the species H. longipes is from Japan and was brought to the U.S. by Gus Krossa of Michigan. It has dark green foliage with white streaked variegation.

A cultivar by this name was listed on the Hosta Library.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term iwa as rock, Iwa Gibōshi or H. longipes and the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e. something colorful and beautiful.
