Hosta 'Carl'

Peter Ruh of Ohio registered this cultivar on behalf of the originator, Carl Calderara of Rhode Island in 1991. It has an "H. nakaiana background" according to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "It forms a small size (10 inches high) mound with slightly cupped leaves and pale lavender flowers from late June into July.

According to The Hosta Handbook by Mark Zilis (2000), this cultivar is one of many that have the "...'Blue Cadet' look (dense, rounded mound of heart shaped, bluish green foliage topped by dense clusters of lavender flowers in July)."
