Hosta 'Chelsea'

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. Neither is registered with The American Hosta Society. The first one to be registered would become the "official" hosta of that name and the other would have to be renamed.

H. 'Chelsea' is an incorrect or outdated name for H. 'Fortunei Albopicta' when it is sold in England.

Jerry Hadrava of Iowa also gave this name to a plant that was a sport of H. 'Slick Willie' according to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009).  At 19 inches in height and 49 inches in width, this medium to large size plant has foliage that is slightly corrugated, rippled and a bit unruly. The medium purple flowers bloom in July.
