Hosta 'Fat Cat'

The above picture of the beautiful specimen of H. 'Fat Cat' was taken at the former Wade and Gatton Nursery in Ohio. On the left is originator, Dick Ward and holding the leaf is Van Wade.

Dr. Dick and Jane Ward of Ohio registered this seedling of H. 'Sagae' in 1996. It forms a large size mound that stands 22 inches high with a width of 52 inches. The leaves have a deep lobe at the base and have a slightly wavy margin. It produces medium lavender flowers in July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Though a seedling of 'Sagae', the foliage of 'Fat Cat' resembles that of a golden H. 'Sieboldiana'-type."
