Hosta 'Fragrant Fire'

Originated by Jan van den Top of the Netherlands and registered on his behalf by Registrar, Gayle Hatley Alley for The American Hosta Society in 2019. This upright growing, tissue culture sport of H. 'Old Faithful' is a large size hosta about 24 inches high by 60 inches wide. The foliage is "strong" yellow green (144A RHS Colour Chart) with a creamy white marginal variegation.

Its leaves are slightly shiny on top, elliptical, slightly convexly cupped and have widely spaced veins with petioles that are red near the base. Near white, fragrant flowers bloom in August on scapes about 36 inches tall. The scapes also have reddish speckles.

The registration materials state: "...Shiny leaves are held upright and forms a nice dense clump. Large fragrant flowers in August."
