Hosta 'Frensham Firebolt'

Registered by June Colley and John Baker of England in 2020, this small size (7.6 inches high by 20.5 inches wide) cultivar is an open-pollinated seedling of an unnamed seedling of H. gracillima. Its medium green leaves have yellow, cream and white streaked variegation. The foliage is lanceolate, relatively flat and very shiny on top. Deep purple flowers bloom from July into August on scapes 14 to 22 inches high followed by viable seeds.

The registration materials state: "...Relatively stable variegation, useful in hybridizing either as pod or pollen parent, nice reddish pods.."

This is the name of a broom used by one of the Quidditch World Cup competition in a Harry Potter book.
