Hosta 'Frensham Redcurrant Jelly'

Registered by June Colley and John Baker of England in 2020, this fast growing cultivar is a seedling of H. yingeri × H. longipes hypoglauca. It is a medium size hosta about 13 inches high by 18 inches wide with blue-green foliage.

The leaves are lanceolate, relatively flat and have a glaucous bloom on top. Its petioles are bright red wine colored in the spring but change to dull reddish brown later. Pale lavender flowers on scapes about at the top of the foliage bloom from late August into October. It does not set seeds.

The registration materials state: "...Compact clump of narrow blue green leaves with nice red petioles...glaucous bloom early, shiny green later in the season."
