This non-registered hostas was mentioned in the Hosta Heritage Lines website as a plant used in the breeding program of Jeff Moore of Wisconsin. It is the mother plant of a seedling called H. 'Grateful Red II'. 'Grateful Red' is a seedling of H. 'Neat Splash' × H. 'Designer Genes'.

There is also a hydrangea called Grateful Red ® which is a registered trademark from Nature Hills nursery.
