Hosta 'Gretchen'

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. Neither is registered with The American Hosta Society. The first one to be registered would become the "official" hosta of that name and the other would have to be renamed.

Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan has a hosta of this name which was an H. 'Tokudama' type with blue-green leaves that had a gold marginal variegation. It has subsequently been renamed H. 'Gretchen Harshbarger'.

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Gretchen' (Benedict)

Alex Summers of Delaware named an open-pollinated seedling of H. 'Elatior', 'Gretchen'. It is a large size hosta with green foliage and has very fragrant flowers.
