Hosta 'Hero Angel'

Registered by Mary Vertz of Wisconsin  in 2020, this large size (20 inches high by 33 inches wide) cultivar is a sport of H. 'American Hero'. It has medium green foliage that has a dark green marginal variegation and those colors extend down the petioles. The broadly ovate leaves are slightly cupped, slightly twisted and moderately corrugated with a dull top. Pale purple flowers with white stripes bloom from mid-July into August on scapes about 30 inches tall followed by viable seeds.

The registration materials state: "...Heart-shaped leaves emerge with distinct variegation that transitions to a barely discernible variegation later in the season...Center darkens to almost the same color as the dark green margins...Likely the same as H. 'Color Revolt'."
