This hybrid of H. rectifolia was originated from Dr. Shuichi Hirao of Japan. It was registered by Peter Ruh of Ohio in 1997. This hosta forms a medium size mound of medium green foliage about 18 inches tall with a spread of 46 inches. Its petioles are reddish purple. Medium purple flowers bloom from mid-August into September. This cultivar is part of the "Hirao Series" of hostas.
