With
Hosta kikutii yakusimensis
in its background, this cultivar was registered by
Peter Ruh in
1997. It forms a 17 inch high mound that spreads to about 43
inches in width. The leaves are lance shaped, slightly wavy and
smooth textured with 10 deeply impressed vein pairs. Dense
clusters of lavender flowers bloom in September.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis
(2009), "...no doubt the same as or close
to Hosta kikutii yakusimensis, blooming at about the same time and
making the same dense mound of long, narrow foliage with deeply
impressed vein pairs. Herb Benedict once remarked that this was
one of the most beautiful hostas for flower effect."
