Hosta 'Hokkaido'

Originated in Japan, this non-registered cultivar is of unidentified parentage. It is a large size hosta with narrowly elliptic, dark green foliage that comes to a point. The leaves are shiny with lightly rippled margins. It forms a "beak-like" bract around the flower buds and bears clusters of near white flowers with purple anthers from late August into September. They produce viable seeds. This is a hybrid of the species, H. kikutii.

Hokkaido is the name of the northern most, major island of Japan.
