Hosta 'Hubba-hubba'

A large size (22 inches high by 45 inches wide) hosta, this cultivar of unidentified parentage (H. 'Dorothy Benedict' background) was registered by Dr. Ed Elslager of Michigan in 2005.

The foliage is green with gold streaked variegation while some leaves stabilize to a gold colored medial (center) variegation. Its leaves are broadly ovate, moderately corrugated, sometimes cupped, unruly and has thick substance. Pale lavender flowers bloom from late July into August.

Do not confuse this cultivar with a non-registered plant named H. 'Hubba Hubba'. Since the names are so close and this hosta has been registered, we suspect that the other one will have to be renamed to avoid confusion.
