A
self-pollinated seedling of
Hosta sieboldiana 'Frances Williams', this cultivar was
originated by
Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict and registered by
Pauline Banyai in
1990. This large (24 inch tall) mound of heavily corrugated,
moderately wavy foliage bears near white flowers in late June
into July.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis
(2009), "This magnificent plant originated in Herb
Benedict's collection. During a 1991 conversation, he related to
me that it was a sibling to 'Dorothy Benedict', meaning it was a
seedling of 'Frances Williams'. He had tentatively named his
beautiful, blue-leaved plant 'Michigan Blue', but gave it to
Pauline Banyai with permission to rename and introduce it for
sale."
