Hosta sieboldiana 'Northern Star'

This is a sport of H. sieboldiana 'Elegans' that has a chartreuse margin. Registered by Walters Gardens in 1993. It forms a large sized (27 inches high) plant with moderately corrugated, wavy leaves with thick substance. Near white flowers bloom in mid June into July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "I have yet to figure out why 'Northern Star' has been a failure in the garden. It should have been a non-burning improvement on 'Frances Williams'...Skip this one unless you have to have them all."
