Hosta 'Joker'

Registered by Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) in 2009 on behalf of the originator, Arie van Vliet of the Netherlands, this cultivar is a sport of H. 'Fortunei Hyacinthina'. It is a fast growing, large size hosta about 24 inches high by 45 inches wide. The foliage is green with a chartreuse to light yellow marginal variegation. Its leaves are dull on top, flat and broadly ovate. Narrow, pale lavender flowers that are funnel shaped form on 36 inch tall scapes from late July into August.

Registration materials state, "...greens up as the season progresses..."

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The name 'Joker' is still listed in some nursery catalogs, but I can see no difference from 'Jester'."
