Hosta 'Kifukurin Ko Mame'

A sport of 'Ko Mame', this cultivar which originated in Japan was registered by Peter Ruh in 2002. The small mounded plant has purple flowers in August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "More "nomen confusum"!!! The plant that has been sold as 'Kifukurin Ko Mame' has yellow margins that change to white. George Schmid (1991, p. 183) listed 'Kifukurin Ko Mame', but Kenji Watanabe...had already named this same form 'Fukurin Ko Mame' (thinking of it as a bordered plant, without reference to the margin color). Peter Ruh, however, found a form of 'Ko Mame' with yellow margins that hold and is the plant he registered in 2002."
