Hosta 'King John'

Registered by Jim Schwarz of Jim's Hostas of Iowa (now owned by Uniquely Hostas of Wisconsin) in 2010, this upright growing cultivar is a sport of H. 'Sir Richard'. It is a giant size hosta that grows up to 36 inches in height with a spread of around 48 inches. The intensely blue-green foliage is moderately corrugated, broadly ovate and slightly shiny on top. Tubular flowers bloom from mid-July into August on scapes up to 40 inches tall.

According to the registration materials: "...very large plant with very large foliage..."

John, also known as John Lackland, was King of England from 1199 until his death in 1216.
