Hosta 'Lac de Bretaye'
 

A small size (6 inches high by 14 inches wide) hosta, this cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Hazel' which was registered in 2003 by Liselotte Hirsbrunner of Switzerland. It has intensely blue-green foliage with a very thin white marginal variegation. The leaves are lanceolate in shape, moderately wavy and have a glaucous bloom on top.  Pale lavender, tubular flowers with stripes bloom from mid-July into August.

According to the registration information, "...good blue in nearly full sun; elegant, wavy leaves with penciled white edge...lightens in August; golden-yellow in fall color..."


This is the name of a lake in Switzerland.
