Hosta 'Larry Englerth'

Registered in 1986 as a sport of H. 'Midwest Gold' by Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict, this cultivar was named for fellow hosta hybridizer and nurseryman, Larry Englerth. The medium sized (14 inches high) plant has thick substance and produces near white flowers in late June into July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "During a discussion with Herb Benedict in his garden (July 21, 1988), I learned that 'Larry Englerth' actually was a sport of 'Golden Nugget', not 'Midwest Gold' as Herb had originally thought. This would make it very similar to 'Spinning Wheel'..."
