Hosta 'Light Star'

 

Registered by Xing Zhang of the University of Science and Technology of China in Su Zhou/Jiang Su/China in 2020, this upright growing, small size (8 inches high by 22 inches wide) cultivar is of unidentified parentage. Its foliage is medium green with a golden-yellow marginal variegation. The leaves are broadly ovate, relatively flat and dull on top. Pale purple flowers with translucent margins bloom from late July into August on scapes about 16 inches tall followed by viable seeds in black pods.

The registration materials state: "...Bright green leaves with golden margins. Sun tolerant...medium green centers increase in size while the margins get narrower...Sport of Unnamed Cultivar."
