Hosta 'Louis XIV'
 
aka 'Louis the 14th'
 

Registered by Phyllis Kedl of Minnesota in 2010, this fast growing, giant size (30 inches high by 48 inches wide) cultivar is of unidentified parentage. It is an upright plant with bright yellow foliage that is slightly rippled, slightly twisted, slightly wavy and dull on top. Pale lavender flowers with a slight lavender stripe bloom from June into July.


Louis XIV, known as Louis the Great or the Sun King, was a monarch of the House of Bourbon who ruled as King of France from 1643 until his death in 1715.
