Hosta 'Lovely Lauren'

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. One is registered and, therefore, the "official" version of H. 'Lovely Lauren' while the other is a non-registered plants and need to be renamed to avoid further confusion.

A medium size (15 inches high by 28 inches wide) hosta, this cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Sophistication' which was registered in 1998 by Dr. Ed Elslager of Michigan. Its foliage starts the season light green with a yellow marginal variegation which later turns to dark green with creamy white marginal variegation. The leaves are ovate, slightly wavy and moderately corrugated. It bears flowers with purple stripes from July into August.

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Lovely Lauren' (Elslager)

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...name has also been used for an unregistered Dick & Jane Ward seedling growing at Wade & Gatton Nurseries. The latter plant has thick, blue-green foliage in a medium-sized mound and bears near-white flowers in June."

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Lovely Lauren' (Ward)
