Hosta longissima var. brevifolia

Oops! Sure looks as if this green hosta is labeled as Hosta longissima 'Brevifolia' but it should be Hosta longissima var. brevifolia. - Mr PGC

There seems to be some confusion about this plant's name. According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "I'm not sure that I've ever really seen this plant. In 1995 our AHS tour group was taken to a bamboo forest near Iwakumi (Honshu Island, Japan) and shown plants called "Hosta longissima var. brevifolia"...The general consensus of our group was that this was more like Hosta sieboldii than Hosta longissima."

These 2010 photos come from the Ralph (Herb) and Dorothy Benedict Hosta Hillside, tours and vendors at the 2010 American Hosta Society National Convention in Minnesota, Wade and Gatton Nursery and Arboretum, Toledo Botanical Garden and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
