Hosta 'Madame Butterfly'

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. One is registered (shown above) and, therefore, the "official" version of H. 'Madame Butterfly' while the other is a non-registered plant which needs to be renamed.

This H. 'Dorset Clown' seedling was registered by Hideko Gowen of Minnesota in 1999. It forms a medium size, 17 inch high mound of slightly wavy, ovate-shaped foliage. Pale lavender flowers bloom in mid-July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Another plant from Ursula Syre-Herz of South Carolina... also bears the name 'Madame Butterfly' and was distributed in the 1980s."
