Hosta 'Maya Swingtime'

Alttara Scheer of Connecticut originated this non-registered cultivar. It is a medium size hosta which grows about 16 to 20 inches high with a spread of 40 inches. The foliage is rippled and slightly corrugated. Funnel shaped, near white flowers with lavender tubes bloom from late June into July on scapes up to 30 inches tall.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "The veins in the unfurling leaves are blue giving a very soft effect. As the blue effect disappears, the leaves become bright yellow. The heavy white indumentum on the underside of the leaf is often apparent, giving this superb new introduction even more interest."

The originator made the following comment on the Fraternal Order of Seedy Fellows website: "A vigorous vision of rippled edges, 'Maya Swingtime' emerges pale chartreuse with a blue bloom and deep blue veins, which fade as the leaves turn a glowing yellow. Good substance, white backs and a charming twist to the leaf tips, 'Maya Swingtime' revels in full sun in the hybridizers zone 6 garden for the duration of the season. Available from Naylor Creek Nursery."
