Hosta 'Microchip'

Introduced by Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan this miniature size cultivar has a "...H. venusta background...sometimes listed as 'Micro Chip'..." according to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009).

Similar cultivars include H. 'Tiny Tears'.

Note: This is one of many named but non-registered cultivars that were observed in Herb Benedict's garden and mentioned in The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009). Herb was noted for not selling his hostas but many did make it into the market through other people who received them as gifts or bought them at an AHS auction. The only specimen of many of Herb's  plants, however, existed exclusively in his garden and are not available anywhere else. Herb  passed away in 2004. In recent years, Rod Kuenster of Iowa has registered several of these hostas on Herb's behalf.
