Hosta 'Mikaewa-no-yuki'

This hybrid of a white backed Hosta kikutii and a white backed Hosta longipes was developed by Hajime Sugita of Japan and registered by Peter Ruh in 1997. It forms a medium sized (17 inches high) mound of deeply veined foliage of above average substance. The plant has lavender flowers in late August to September.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "I've always loved the graceful appearance of this plant...The deeply veined, smooth, green leaves make an attractive mound..."

Similar cultivars include Hosta kikutii leuconata and H. 'White Heron'.

Seedlings include H. 'Awakening Angel' and H. 'Mourning Dove'.
