Hosta 'Mount Olympus'

This cultivar appeared on a list from the Hosta Library. There was no picture included.

This non-registered cultivar was originated by Alex Malloy of New York. It is a sport of H. 'Chōkō Nishiki' (formerly H. 'On Stage'). The leaves on this large size hosta have thick substance and are moderately wavy, slightly corrugated and dull on top. Pale lavender, tubular flowers with lighter lavender margins bloom in July.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e. something colorful and beautiful.
