Hosta 'Nello and Patrasche'

Registered by Hugo Philips of Belgium in 2010, this fast growing cultivar is of hybrid of H. 'Katsuragawa Beni'. It is a medium size hosta about 11 inches high by 35 inches wide with medium green foliage. The leaves are lanceolate, slightly rippled and have a glaucous bloom on the bottom. Its petioles are brownish-red in color. Striped flowers bloom from mid-August into September on scapes up to 26 inches tall.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term beni as red or rouge and the the term -gawa or -kawa as river.
