Originated in Japan, this non-registered cultivar is a
sport of
H.
longissima. It is a medium size
hosta about 12 inches high by 24 inches wide with green
foliage. Purple flowers are double and produced on
scapes up to 40 inches tall. Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled,
A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term mizu as water, 'Mizu Gibōshi' or
H. longissima.
