Hosta 'Nishiki Akikaze'

This form of H. 'Lancifolia' is a non-registered cultivar from Heinz Klose of Staudengärtnerei Klose in Germany. It is a medium size plant about 12 inches high with a spread of 22 inches. The narrow green foliage has white marginal variegation. Pale purple flowers bloom in August.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e. something colorful and beautiful.
