A sport of H. 'Lancifolia', this cultivar was originated by Olga Thiemann from Illinois and registered on her behalf by Peter and Jean Ruh of Ohio in 2004. It is a small size hosta with lance-shaped foliage that it medium to dark green in color. The flowers are lavender in color.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...I didn't think that 'Olga's Shiny Leaf' was any different from Hosta lancifolia. I still don't."
