A picture of this non-registered cultivar was shown as part of an article by June Colley in The British Hosta and Hemerocallis Society Journal (Autumn 2019). It was noted as a plant with yellow-green flowers. She took the picture while on a recent trip to explore hostas in Japan.

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term maruba as round leaf or round-leafed and the term shirobana as white flower.
