Hosta 'Pete's Dark Satellite'

Originated by Piet de Rooij of the Netherlands and registered on his behalf by AHS/G. H. Alley in 2020, this large size (20 inches high by 42 inches wide) cultivar is an open-pollinated seedling of H. 'Green Sleeves'. It is dark yellowish green (139A RHS Colour Chart) hosta with nearly round foliage that is slightly cupped, slightly corrugated and slightly shiny on top. The petioles are lighter green than the leaf blades. Pale lavender flowers bloom in July on scapes 20 to 22 inches tall followed by viable seeds.

The registration materials state: "...Dense clump of very dark almost round leaves with a nice satiny sheen held in a pleasing manner for optimum overhead viewing."
