Hosta 'Phoenix Feathers'

Originated by Dan Wols of Illinois and registered by G. H. Alley, Hosta Registrar on behalf of The American Hosta Society in 2022, this upright growing cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Harry van de Laar' × H. 'Sun Power'.

It is a medium size hosta about 14 inches high by 28 inches wide with bright yellow foliage. The leaves are slightly folded and wavy with petioles that are described as "Saturated red at ground level transitioning to red spots that extend slightly into the leaf front and somewhat further up the mid-rib on the leaf back."

Pale lavender flowers bloom in August on scapes about 20 inches tall followed by viable seeds.

The registration materials state: "Medium sized clump of bright yellow ruffled leaves held upright before draping over and downward...2022 AHS National Convention in Minnesota gift plant...Emerges a waxy chartreuse early then quickly turns bright yellow that intensifies as the season progresses."
