Hosta 'Phyllis'

 

Originated by Don Dean of Minnesota and registered by Jim Weidman of Missouri in 2015, this cultivar is a seedling of (H. 'Color Fantasy' × H. 'Love Pat') x an open-pollinated seedling of H. 'Sea Drift'. It is a large size (23 inches high by 36 inches wide) hosta with greenish yellow foliage in the spring that becomes greenish yellow later.

The leaves are slightly rippled, moderately folded, slightly wavy, heavily corrugated, deeply cupped, slightly twisted and dull on top. Pale lavender flowers bloom from mid-June into July and sets viable seeds. According to the registration materials, it is sun tolerant.

Although we are showing an image of Cloris Leachman who played Phyllis on TV, this hosta is actually named for Jim's wife.
