Originated by Dr. Hans Simon of Gärtnerei Simon in Germany, this small to medium size, non-registered cultivar is a seedling of H. nakaiana. It bears large numbers of purple flowers clustered tightly at the top of the scape hang almost parallel to the ground..

One source called it Hosta mukayama 'Purple Flamingo' but there is no such species.
