Hosta 'Purple Heart'

 

This introduction by Gary Gossett of Terra Nova Nurseries in Oregon grows into a medium size hosta about 15 inches high and 30 inches wide. It was granted a U.S. patent in 2012. The leaves have thick substance and have red petioles with the color extended up into the base of the leaf. Its lavender to purple flowers bloom in late summer.

Abstract: A new and distinct Hosta plant characterized by very dark maroon petioles with maroon leaf bases, thick, glossy, dark green leaves, camptodrome venation, a vigorous, clumping habit, on a medium size plant.
